Bugsy
Jack Russell Terrier
10 years
Bugsy came into FODDR under sad circumstances.
It was quickly noticed that there was something wrong with Bugsy and he was taken straight to our vet for tests. Sadly the news was not great for him, Bugsy was in renal failure and this would be palliative care.
However this little man is very happy in his foster home and is being very well cared for and spoilt. Bugsy loves his food although he is on a special diet. He loves his walks and now has a backpack to be carried in when he gets a bit tired. Bugsys main aim in life is to play and kill as many soft toys as he can. He just absolutely loves to rag them to death and needs a constant supply of new ones.
Bugsy is getting the very best care he needs, and his foster family adore and spoil him rotten.

Chelsea
Black Labrador
Around 14 years
Chelsea came into FODDR as an ex breeding girl.
This older girl is the most chilled out dog, she is fantastic with all new arrivals as she is so laid back. Chelsea is very independent and patient, and loves to show the newbie around.
Chelsea loves her walks and loves to have a good sniff about, she's a very happy girl. She loves her foster mum and dad very much.
Chelsea is a long term foster as she has these 'funny turns', where she will hide and shake. Chelsea now takes anti seizure medications which seem to help. Sadly, the vet suspects it is a tumour on her pituitary gland. Chelsae also suffers with skin allergis so has monthly inections to help with this. She also has thyroid problems and meds are needed.
Chelsea is very much a huge part of her foster home and she has helped so many dogs learn to trust and be a dog.

Chloe
Shih Tzu
Around 14 years
Chloe came into FODDR as an ex breeding girl. She was very shy and nervous.
Chloe is known as 'The Diva'. She is a total princess and has everyone wrapped round her paws.
Being older means this little girl can be a bit grumpy with other dogs but it is more of a case of them having to do what she wants. Chloe rules the whole house.
Chloe can still be nervous of new people and is often found in daddy's arms being carried like a baby. Princess Chloe loves her dad very much (it's mutual!) and has him very well trained.
Chloe sadly suffers from very bad epilepsy which has worsened over the years. She is on anti seizure medication and has regular check ups at the vet.
Chloe's foster family say their house would not be home without her. This princess has landed on her feet and is totally spoilt rotten

Odin
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
10 years
Odin came into FODDR as an ex puppy farm stud dog. He had been badly treated and had no trust in humans. This little man was covered in open sores, had terrible eye & ear infections which had been left untreated and was so malnourished he was unable to stand or walk. On arrival with us he was also found to have terrible arthritis and a mass was discovered on his thyroid gland. A scan also picked up old fractures in his neck. Along with MVD and SM this chap has very certain needs.
His foster carer at the time gave him the tlc he needed which obviously did the trick and he went from strength to strength. Odin found his feet and realised not all humans are cruel. Odin loves squeaky toys, he can hear them a mile off and comes bumbling in to find and steal them. The little man has also found his bark and lets everyone know he's here.
Odin has very specific health issues and his foster carer is looking after him very well with massage & acupuncture sessions.

Dottie
Labrador
Around 11 years
Dottie came in to FODDR at 9 Years old after just having a litter of pups. She was seriously overweight and was immediately put on a strict diet using veterinary diet food.
Dottie is a very happy girl and is always smiling. She is super friendly and loves to meet new people. She loves her walks and loves to charge around with her Labrador friends and a Cavalier that thinks she a lab. They are often to be seen doing zoomies around the garden. Although Dottie loves to play and enjoys her walks her weight means she tires easily. However, after a quick power nap she is back at it again.
Although Dottie is 'older' she most definitely doesn't know it. She is catching up on her teen years and causing mischief where she can. Dottie's main purpose in life is to get as many chewy treats as possible.
Dottie absolutely loves other dogs, she is a girl that needs to be part of a gang. She truly is the friendliest lab you will meet.

Sonny
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
17 years
Sonny came into FODDR at the age of 13, his owner surrendered him as could no longer care for him. This older gent needed a retirement home to spend his days. Sonny was seen by our vet who found a very large serious murmur and he was diagnosed with MVD. Sonny is now on heart medications and is doing very well.
Sonny Loves his foster Dad, he loves to go to work with him and gets very excited when it's time to go. However, when at work Sonny just sleeps all day! He just loves spending man time with his Dad - or could it be all the treats he gets in the office?
Even though Sonny has a very bad heart he still loves his walks. He loves to have a plod around the park but its in his own time. Sonny is quite the stubborn boy. No one can rush him, he will only do what he wants in his own time. His foster family just love his character and his grumpy ways but he is getting on and is entitled to be a little grumpy now and then.

Harry, known as golden boy, can do no wrong. Being the only male dog in the house he gets away with murder. Harry is absolutely lovely in every way, he loves to constantly talk and loves to shout for his food however Harry is deaf so has no idea how loud he can be.
This little lad is very independent, but he's a true mummy's boy at heart and will follow his foster mum everywhere. They say girls love you but the boys are in love with you and this is very true in Harry's case.
He loves his walks with his gang and again will constatnly chat away the entire walk.
Harry sadly has eplipsey and takes daily anti seizure medications. He also suffers with MVD heart disease which is common in the breed. Again he takes daily medications, vetmedin and frusemide to help. These medications are very costly to the rescue.
Harry is truly loved by his foster family. He has settled in brilliantly and is part of the family. His foster family would not be without him.

Sometimes we have dogs who need expensive medication, have long term illnesses, behavioral issues or may need palliative care. We will then pay for that care and keep the dog in a foster home for the rest of their lives.
This is one of the ways we help make life better for dogs and it is only possible with your support.
Here are some of our long term foster dogs:
Please consider donating towards their lifelong care - any amount is appreciated.
